Local 21 is introducing an improved Grievance Intake process to help ensure that member concerns and potential grievances are received, tracked and directed to the appropriate Union representative as efficiently as possible. If you believe you have a workplace issue that may be a grievance, members are encouraged to complete the Member Grievance Intake Form and submit it to:
The intake form provides the Union with the information needed to understand the issue and determine the appropriate next steps. Once received, the submission will be forwarded to the Union Office for the President’s review and attention and, following that review, will be assigned to the appropriate Grievance Chair for the area.
This process is intended to provide:
- Better tracking of member grievance concerns;
- Quicker and more efficient direction of matters to the appropriate Grievance Chair;
- A consistent way for members to provide the information necessary for the Union to review their concern; and
- A clear point of contact for submitting grievance-related concerns to the Union.
Members are encouraged to provide as much relevant information as possible, including the date of the incident, the circumstances involved, and any supporting documentation.
How to Submit Your Grievance:
For greater efficiency and tracking, members are encouraged to submit their completed Member Grievance Intake Form by email to:
Members who prefer to submit their grievance in person may continue to do so by bringing the completed form to the Local 21 Union Office.
Local 21 is also working on an online grievance submission form to make the process even easier and more accessible for members. Once the online form is ready, the Union will provide members with further information and introduce the new online submission option.
Important:
Submitting an intake form allows the Union to review and assess the matter. It does not, by itself, determine whether a matter constitutes a grievance under the Collective Bargaining Agreement or whether a formal grievance has been filed.
Members should also remain mindful of any applicable grievance timelines under Article 8 – Grievances & Dispute Resolution.
Local 21 is committed to improving how member concerns are received and addressed. This new intake process is intended to help provide better tracking, quicker service and more efficient direction of grievance matters to the appropriate Union representative.
