Union Information Stewards
Union Information Stewards (UIS) serve as valuable sources of information in the workplace and function as liaisons between the membership, 2nd VP and the Grievance Chairs.
These individuals serve on a volunteer basis and are important source of information in the field to help keep the membership informed of the status of the Local and the actions its currently engaged in.
The Information Steward program is currently in its trial period for the 2025 and will be revaluated in April 2026. During the initial trial of the program one (1) Steward will be assigned for each area associated with a Local 21 Grievance Chair, but may be expanded in the future.
Initially the nomination period for the Information Steward Trial was to be in August, however, applicants will now be taken for consideration until December 2025, after which the timeline laid out in the attached PDF will take effect for future appointments.
Appointments are granted based on Executive Board decision, and when the member in question applies for the role.
