The Union annually reviews and approves up to seven (7-8) five-hundred-dollar ($500.00) scholarships to members or their children/wards who are in their first (1st) year of post-secondary education. 
Note: Nephews, nieces, grandkids, sisters, brothers or other such relations are not applicable.  

-This amount is subject to change based on the number of applicant in a year and board approval. 

The deadline for applying for the L21 annual scholarship is August. 15th for the the upcoming school year.­­

The Scholarship check will be hand delivered to the recipient by the sitting president or treasury secretary and a pictures will be taken of the hand off for posting on our website and facebook page. 

To qualify for the scholarship, the student must meet the following requirements:

1. The applicant must be a current member or dependent of a current member in good standing of Local 21.
2. The applicant must be a 1st year post-secondary student.
3. The applicant must provide a cover letter explaining who they are and their connection to Local 21.
4. The applicant must explain what program they are enrolled in.
5. The applicant must provide proof of current year registration of the post-secondary institute that they will be attending.
6. The applicant must provide a copy of their official Grade Twelve (12) marks.
7. The applicant must provide the essay as outlined below.
8.  The applicant must submit their application to Local 21 on or before August 30.
9. The applicant can only apply once.

Applicants will be based on the following. 
1. Eighty percent (80%) will be based on the average of the grade twelve (12) marks.
2. Twenty percent (20%) will be based on a 250-word essay (1 page) answering the following question: Why are Unions Important to Society? The essay will not be marked; receipt of essay with the application is all that is required to obtain these points. The winning scholarship applicant(s) may have their essay published on the Unions website or other Union publications and is the property of Local 21.
